ADRF will embrace the following principles:
Mutual respect for decision-making at each level: Allocation of defined responsibilities between the member organizations as described in, and guaranteed by, this Constitution and its Regulations, recognizing the self-governing nature of Members, while respecting the appropriateness of their governance and action where this is in the collective interest.
Significant areas of autonomous decision-making at each level of the organization: Recognizing that the strength and legitimacy of members lies in its ability to act with autonomy and freedom at different levels and at the same time decisively according to the needs and interests of the larger organization, whilst ensuring that decision-making processes lie as closely as possible to those affected by the decisions.
The principle of subsidiarity: Ensuring that decision-making power should rest as closely as possible to those it affects, while preventing unilateral decisions that could adversely affect the dignity, self-respect and freedom of other Members.
Checks and balances: A system of power sharing through the devolution of authority and rights to Members must be ensured. There shall be proper checks and balances between management and governing bodies, and between subsidiary units.
Equality: Affiliate Members, whatever their age, location, education, social status, or scale of financial resources, should have equal powers. ADRF shall build fair and balanced partnerships among ADRF members, ensuring that all voices are heard and valued in decision-making processes.
Individual and collective ownership: Member organizations and individuals uphold both individual and collective ownership and responsibility, whether it pertains to institutional or community matters.
Contributing time, resources, skill, and knowledge: We encourage active participation from members by contributing their time, resources, skills, and knowledge to advance the organization's overall mission and objectives.
Participatory: We ensure participatory processes that involve all members and stakeholders in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, promoting shared decision-making and benefits.
Partnership: There shall be a spirit of cooperation and collaboration among the members in terms of taking initiatives and pursuing efforts, sharing responsibilities and achievements, enjoying benefits and successes, and facing hurdles and failures so as to manifest solidarity and fellowship among them.
Global and Creative Spirit: Member organizations and individuals are encouraged and expected to express broad perspectives while rooting themselves with people at the base, to be regionally and globally concerned while involving themselves nationally and locally, and to launch creative initiatives and efforts while being relevant and useful to the people.
